[Costa Rica] “You have been perfected once for all!”

The 2020 Costa Rica World Camp was the host of the CLF forum on February 12th at the Comunidad PAS, where 600 pastors from 6 Central and South American countries (Mexico, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua) gathered.

Comunidad PAS is the venue of the CLF and it is a large chapel that has a capacity of approximately 1,300 people. The regional manager of Costa Rica pastor Tae Kang Kwon conveyed that through the CLF, he was able to see numerous things that God had prepared.

“During the Bible Seminar in March, Pastor Ock Soo Park mentioned on three occasions how good it would be to host the CLF in Costa Rica, and I felt the heart the God would be pleased for us to host the CLF is Costa Rica and gather many pastors. Although this is the first CLF with pastor Ock Soo Park, God had already allowed many pastors to attend. He prepared a good venue to be rented at $4,000 when it should be over $10,000. This CLF will be the beginning of the work and the glory of God in which Costa Rica will open its heart towards the gospel.” – Pastor Tae Kang Kwon, CLF Costa Rica Regional Manager

Through the promotion of the CLF, the regional manager of Costa Rica and the affiliated volunteers met 10 chairmen of Christianity in Costa Rica one by one and introduced them to the CLF. There were some leaders who harbored misunderstandings. However, pastor Rigoberto who is the chairman of the Association of Protestants in Costa Rica imparted his experience at the CLF in Korea on May of 2018 and resolved all misunderstandings. Through their approval, the group was able to promote to 4,000 churches within the association.

The CLF forum began by viewing a video that shows how CLF has operated over the years.

“I would like to welcome you to the CLF meeting. CLF is a powerful ministry that leads Christian leaders only by the Word. In Costa Rica, there are many societal problems that are emerging. Protestants must return to the role of evangelists of the gospel. I am astounded at how pastor Ock Soo Park refuses to be exhausted in his ministry at the age of 77. It is a tremendous blessing of God that pastor Ock Soo Park, the founder of CLF has visited Costa Rica. Through this meeting, we will learn the role of evangelists with a foundation in the Word. I hope that all of us can be blessed through this meeting and let us work together to return to the gospel of Jesus Christ.” – Chairman of the Association of Protestants in Costa Rica, Pastor Rigoberto Ve

The Gracias Choir took the stage next. Through the clean and beautiful performance by the vocal ensemble of the choir, the mood of the event became joyous and the main speaker of the CLF pastor Ock Soo Park gave the sermon.

Pastor Ock Soo Park preached that spiritual life is not “something that I do but something that God does” as he introduced the way to be supplied the power of God.

“Spiritual life isn’t done by me. It is done by God.

Jesus didn’t take the Pharisees and Scribes, who are knowledgeable about the Bible, as his disciples. He took Peter, a fisherman. That was much easier. This displays a difference in thinking.

There was a time when I once had severe stomach ulcer and for three months, I suffered without being able to eat anything. During a prayer, I remembered Mark 11 verse 24, ‘What thingsoever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them’ and I ate a meal by faith but I saw that I had diarrhea. Then I thought, “It hurts but am I healed? Or am I not healed? What does the Bible say?” and through this I was able to see how I do not believe the Word as it is and I decided to rely only on the Word. “Even if I have diarrhea, I am healed!”, “Even though it hurts, I’m healed.” I moved my heart over to the side of the Word and amazingly in 24 hours, I was completely healed of the ulcer.

In the same way, the way I seem is not important, what is important is what the Word says. When we believe the Word as it is, its power and its love and its peace will enter our hearts. Not everyone has to run the full course of the marathon to for South Korea to win the gold medal but when the representative athlete wins the gold medal then all of South Korea wins the gold medal. Just like that Jesus has cleansed our sins for us so we can enter heaven by the works of Jesus. In order to enter heaven, there is nothing we need to do. It is not that we must strive to do something. When we are one-hearted with God, God will do the work.” – Pastor Ock Soo Park, during the CLF message

Pastor Ock Soo Park preached the forgiveness of sins that is given only by the grace of Jesus and not by our effort.

Afterwards, there was a question and answer time.

One pastor asked what happens when one commits sins after receiving the forgiveness of sins. Pastor Ock Soo Park spoke about the eternal sanctification in Hebrews 9:12 and witnessed, “Regardless of any of our deeds, God has perfected us once for all!”

The Christian leaders were elated to hear the CLF sermon that is firmly rooted in the framework of the Word, and requested more CLF meetings.

Next, the heads of Christian leaders who attended the CLF visited the VIP room and met with pastor Ock Soo Park. As they attended the CLF they remarked that, “each moment of the sermon gave incredible joy to the pastors and with the foundation of the Word, we were able to learn about the CLF in more detail and we wish to work together in the future”. Pastor Ock Soo Park explained that the congregation can live a joyful spiritual life when their hearts are connected to God by resolving the problem of sins. He also gathered their hearts to work together for Costa Rica.

“I am so thankful to God that pastor Ock Soo Park, the founder of the Good News Mission was able to come to our country. The Good News Mission has been in Costa Rica for a long time and we are intimately aligned. In 2020, this year we received the blessings to host the World Camp and the CLF. We invited many pastors to hear the message of Pastor Ock Soo Park. We were immensely jubilant. Many leaders of denominations, university chancellors and heads of ministries were able to witness the Word of God. We are happy and satisfied to be led by the precise message and sermon that is centered around the Bible. Salvation was accomplished on the cross in calvary by His sacrifice. It was not by works so that no one could boast.

As leaders and pastors, it is our calling to preach the message of the Bible throughout our country. There is a need for all churches to teach what is only preached in the Bible, and all Christians must have the assurance of salvation through the works of Christ on the cross. I would like to thank pastor Ock Soo Park to spare time in coming here. I would like to invite him whenever, however many times he likes. God bless you.” – Chairman of the Association of Protestants in Costa Rica, Pastor Rigoberto Vega

Although 80% of the citizens of Costa Rica are catholic, the country is becoming increasingly secularized. CLF is blowing a wind  of great change in Christianity from Honduras, to Bolivia, Paraguay and then Costa Rica, with the hope that many pastors will witness the true gospel to cover all of Costa Rica with the gospel.
